Stuff We Love: Backcountry Research Mutherload Strap

Brand: Backcountry Research

Price: $19.00

As a fan of not riding with a pack, Backcountry Research has made carrying the essentials that much easier.

On a trail ride I’ll typically need to carry with me a spare tube, CO2, tire levers, a multi-tool, fluids, a phone, cash, and identification. Normally all of this would easily fit into a pack, but wearing a large pack while riding leaves you with a sweaty back and extra weight. Even a waist pack adds extra bulk to your body.

With the Backcountry Research Mutherload strap you can put some of these necessities right on your bike. While it can probably be used for a lot more, it is absolutely perfect for the tube/CO2/lever kit. All of these items fit neatly within the strap and it easily cinches to my frame.

The Backcountry Research strap uses a dual shock cord retention system to hold everything together. Then, the velcro strap can be cinched to your frame.

Over the last few months I have had absolutely no issues with anything shifting or making noise. This strap holds on tight and keeps the essentials in place. In fact, my CO2 inflator is pointing downwards and is only a few mm from contacting my frame. After every ride I check it to see if it has shifted down, and it never has. This makes it easy to fit whatever you need into tight spaces without worrying about rattling or things moving around and coming in contact with your frame.

While a ski strap may do the job, the Backcountry Research Mutherload Strap is far better at holding onto larger items and keeping them secure. It also looks way better in my opinion. And with over 50 color options you’re sure to find something that matches your bike. These straps are also hand made in Bozeman, MT  - you can’t beat that!
